Southwest Airlines started a 72-hour sale today, and the fares are unbelievable. They're offering fares of $25, $50, $75 and $100. Here's the quick scoop from Southwest itself:

John William Lomax Charged With Death of Connecticut Football Player

John William Lomax has been charged with the death of University of Connecticut football player, Jasper Howard. The two were involved in a fight on the Connecticut campus on October 18th. According to The New York Times:

Lomax was also charged with conspiracy to commit assault and was being held on $2 million bail. The police announced the arrest at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. They also said that two other men had been arrested and charged related to the fight. Hakim Muhammad, 20, also of Bloomfield, was charged with conspiracy to commit assault and was being held on $750,000 bail and James Todd, 21, of Hartford, faces charges for allegedly pulling the fire alarm that sent students streaming out of a dance in the student union before the fight.

Lomax’s attorney, Deron Freeman, told The Hartford Courant earlier Tuesday that his client had been arrested in the morning after he had arrived at work. Freeman said Lomax “had nothing whatsoever to do with the stabbing” and had been trying to break up the fight.

Triboelectrification Is Halting The Space Shuttle's Launch - You Do Know What Triboelectrification Is, Right?

Don't worry. I didn't know what it was either. What I found out is that in simple terms, it's static in the atmosphere. Specifically, here's how NASA.gov defines triboelectrification:

The skies look clear except for some high clouds, there’s no rain in the immediate forecast, so why might a rocket not launch? The answer is something called triboelectrification. While this isn’t a word you encounter every day, you might experience it if you walk across a dry carpet or brush up against a cat and then touch a metal surface: it’s static.

In the case of Ares I-X, flying through high-level clouds can generate “P-static” (P for precipitation), which can create a corona of static around the rocket that interferes with radio signals sent by or to the rocket. This would create problems when the rocket tries to transmit data down to the ground or if the Range Safety Officer at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station needed to send a signal to the flight termination system. Until the 45th Space Wing and observer aircraft indicate that the skies are clear, Ares I-X will wait them out.

Huh. Well, now you know what it is. Don't you feel smarter already...

VIDEO: Disney Offering Refunds For Baby Einstein Videos

Wow! This is interesting. Parents were complaining that Disney's Baby Einstein videos weren't as educational as Disney advertised, and now Disney is refunding parents who bought the videos. I guess the next time they push "educational" videos, they better make sure they're darn educational, huh?

VIDEO: Naked Coffee Drinker Arrested In His Own Home

Okay. I'm going to have to side with the naked coffee drinker on this one. It's 5:30am, and he goes downstairs in his own home naked and makes a pot of coffee. A woman and her seven-year old happen to be "cutting" through his front yard, and they see him and call the police. He gets arrested. I don't know about you, but I think this is stupid. The guy's in his own home, and he obviously didn't know that a woman and her child were going to be cutting through his front yard at 5:30 in the morning. I don't personally make coffee naked, but it's just the human body people. Give me a break. What do you think?

The First "Adult Photo" Of Woman Held Captive For 18 Years In Backyard

The first photo of Jaycee Dugard since she was reunited with her family after 18 years in captivity shows a smiling woman with long, light brown hair.

Dugard, now 29, tells People magazine she's "so happy to be back with my family" after being reunited Aug. 27. People published the photo and comments from Dugard in its Wednesday issue.

Dugard is living with her mother, Terry Probyn, 50, and two daughters — Angel, 15, and Starlit, 11 — fathered by her alleged kidnapper, Phillip Garrido. Authorities say Dugard and her daughters lived in a hidden encampment of sheds and tents in Garrido's backyard.

Garrido and his wife, Nancy, have been charged with kidnapping and rape in Dugard's 1991 disappearance outside her South Lake Tahoe home. The Garridos have pleaded not guilty.

GRAPHIC PHOTOS - This is Why You Don't Text While Driving Your Car!

If you don't have a strong stomach, then you don't want to view the last few photos of this horrible accident. Normally, I wouldn't put something like this on the site, but it's such a powerful reminder of what can happen if you aren't paying attention while driving. Specifically, if you've gotten in the habit of texting and/or talking excessively on your cell phone while driving, I think these pictures just might persuade you otherwise.

I think this should be enough incentive for anyone to realize it's not a good idea to drink and drive or text and drive. And, if you must talk on your cell phone, use headphones or don't talk at all.

John Daly Finally Made It Back To The Masters...

...unfortunately, he didn't make it into The Masters, but rather across the street from The Masters where he's hawking t-shirts, head covers, practice balls and more. I've always been a fan of big John, but it's really sad to see what's happened to him. But, maybe, and I emphasize maybe, he's headed down the right path now. Here's an excerpt from an article on SportingNews.com:

Daly is ranked 783rd in the world, has no exempt playing status to get into PGA Tour events, said he lost between $7 million and $8 million in sponsorship dollars last year and has no idea where his game is after sitting out the past six months in part because of a PGA Tour suspension.

"I don't have one sponsor right now," Daly told The Post "I'm on the verge of bankruptcy with the bad economy and the loss of sponsors. I don't want to go that route."

Daly, whose weight increased to 280 pounds at one point, had Lap-Band weight loss surgery seven weeks ago and told the newspaper he already has lost 40 pounds. He also is working with Phil Mickelson's former coach, Rick Smith, getting ready to play in Europe in a few weeks. He also says he's working with a therapist to address his personal problems, which have included divorces, drinking and financial issues.

"I've always been down on talking to a shrink, but I'm not ashamed to say I'm doing that right now," Daily told the newspaper. "I've had so many things going on in my life that I need it to help me. He's helped me settle on realistic goals. I've always expected too much out of myself and it's probably ruined my career to this point."

Total Ban On Smoking In Dallas Starts On Friday, April 10, 2009

Non-smoker? If you're offended by smoking in bars and restaurants, then you might want to move to Dallas. CBS11TV.com is reporting that tomorrow, a ban on smoking in any public building goes into affect. Personally, I'm not a smoker, but I'm not sure if a total ban is a good idea.

Mainly, I feel for all the bar and restaurant owners who don't have the luxury of building an outdoor patio to accommodate smokers. For many of them, they'll lose a significant amount of their business, which in this economy, means they'll probably be put out of business very soon.
